Need to check a PAN number in Nepal? The Inland Revenue Department's free IRD PAN search page does it: ird.gov.np/pan-search. You type the number, tick the captcha and search. Use it for a PAN no search of your own number, a PAN ID search, or a quick PAN card check on a business before you deal with it. How to do an IRD PAN search on ird.gov.np

  1. Go to ird.gov.np/pan-search. On the IRD homepage it's PAN नम्बर खोजी in the menu, or स्था.ले.नं खोजी in the row of quick links.
  2. Enter the PAN number in the स्थाई लेखा नम्बर box (1). Only digits are accepted.
  3. Tick the captcha ("I'm not a robot").
  4. Click खोज्नुहोस् (Search) (2). रिसेट गर्नुहोस् (Reset) clears the box if you want to start again.

Why do a PAN check?

  • Once you have a PAN: confirm the number is in IRD's records before you hand it to an employer or a bank.
  • Before you deal with a business: if a shop, contractor or supplier gives you a PAN number, look it up on IRD's page first.
  • For your own records: keep your PAN number with your documents. Under IRD's "PAN for all" policy, anyone earning income such as a salary, wages or house rent must have a personal PAN (IRD FAQ).

How do I do an IRD PAN search?
Open ird.gov.np/pan-search, type the PAN number in the स्थाई लेखा नम्बर box, tick the captcha and click खोज्नुहोस्. It costs nothing and needs no login. IRD's official IRD Nepal app on Android or iPhone can search a PAN too.
Is a PAN ID search the same as a PAN search?
Yes. Your PAN is your tax ID number, so a PAN ID search, a PAN card search and a PAN number search all mean looking up the number on ird.gov.np/pan-search. Enter the number, tick the captcha and click खोज्नुहोस्.
Can I search PAN by name in Nepal?
No. IRD's official PAN search only takes the PAN number; there's no field for a name, citizenship number or phone number. Be careful with websites or Facebook pages that offer to find a PAN by name, because they are not IRD.
How do I find my PAN number if I forgot it?
Check your PAN card or the SMS and email IRD sent you. IRD's FAQ says you can print a lost personal PAN card from your taxpayer login, or take your citizenship certificate to the office that holds your PAN and ask them to look it up.
Is the IRD PAN search free?
Yes. The page at ird.gov.np/pan-search charges no fee and needs no login: you just enter the PAN number and tick the captcha. Be wary of other sites that charge money or ask for your details to "check" a PAN.
Can I check a PAN number on my phone?
Yes. Open ird.gov.np/pan-search in your phone's browser, or install IRD's official IRD Nepal app for Android or iPhone. IRD's banner for the app lists PAN Search among its services.
What is the difference between a PAN search and a tax clearance search?
A PAN search checks a PAN number. A tax clearance search, at ird.gov.np/tax-clearance, checks a tax clearance certificate, using the PAN, the fiscal year and the tax clearance number printed on the certificate.
