WES evaluation cost in 2026: every fee in US$ and Nepali rupees, ICAP vs Basic, the Canada ECA with HST, processing time and the extra costs from Nepal.

For US admissions, the WES evaluation cost is $239 for a Course-by-Course evaluation with WES ICAP, roughly NPR 36,200, or $253 (about NPR 38,300) once you add standard delivery. A Document-by-Document ICAP evaluation is $171. For Canadian immigration, the WES ECA costs C$264 plus 13% HST, about C$298 (NPR 32,400), before delivery. All fees come from wes.org, checked on 6 November 2026. To show the cost of a WES evaluation in Nepal, we converted them at Nepal Rastra Bank's selling rate for that day: NPR 151.47 per US dollar and NPR 108.54 per Canadian dollar (NRB).

WES ECA cost for Canada (Express Entry)

Express Entry and other Canadian immigration programmes need WES's Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) (WES: ECA):

As WES puts it, the ECA price "does not include delivery fees, additional fees, or a 13% Harmonized Sales Tax (HST)". You get an electronic report, access to the report for IRCC, an official paper report (delivery fees apply) and storage of your report and verified transcripts. If you want admission to a Canadian university rather than immigration, check what the university asks for and WES Canada's own price list before you pay.

Beyond the WES fee, set aside money for:

  • Your university's fee for transcripts or for sending records to WES. Kathmandu University, for instance, sends electronic copies straight to WES after an online request, for a fee (KU).
  • A courier from Nepal, if your university hands you a sealed envelope to send.

ICAP (International Credential Advantage Package) sends copies of your verified documents to your recipients with the report, and keeps your transcripts and report on file afterwards, so later reports are simpler and cheaper (WES: benefits of ICAP). WES labels it "Recommended" on its fee page, and many universities insist on it. Basic gives you the report and nothing else. For most Nepali students ICAP is worth the extra $53: if you apply to more universities later, each new report costs less, and you won't have to order transcripts from Nepal all over again. Already chose Basic? You can upgrade to ICAP for $53 while the evaluation is still in progress.

Is the WES fee the same for every university?
The evaluation fee itself doesn't change, but every extra recipient, copy and courier delivery adds to it. Choose the evaluation type your university asks for from the start, because changing it later costs $92.
How long does a WES evaluation take?
Typically 2 weeks to verify your documents once they've all arrived, then 1 week for an ECA or Document-by-Document evaluation, or 2 weeks for Course-by-Course, up to 4 if complex (WES processing times, checked 6 November 2026). Transcripts from Nepal add time, and paying for a faster courier for your report doesn't speed up the evaluation itself.
Can I get a WES evaluation for free?
No. Every WES evaluation has a fee. Some universities accept other evaluators or assess transcripts themselves, so check your university's requirements before you pay.
Can I get a refund from WES?
You can cancel a file or application for a $56 processing fee, but a completed evaluation can't be cancelled and its fees aren't refunded. Make sure you know which evaluation you need before you pay.
How do I pay WES from Nepal?
Online, in dollars (or Canadian dollars for an ECA), so you need a card that works for international online payments; your card may add its own foreign-currency charges. Keep the receipt and your WES reference number.
Is a WES evaluation valid for 5 years?
The 5-year limit applies to Canadian immigration: your ECA must be under 5 years old when you create your Express Entry profile and when you apply (IRCC). Universities set their own rules on how old a report can be.
