WES Application from Nepal: How to Apply for WES Credential Evaluation (2026)

WES application from Nepal, step by step with screenshots: required documents, sending TU and KU transcripts to WES, reference number and status.

A WES application is how you get your Nepali degree evaluated by World Education Services (WES) for a university, employer or immigration in the USA or Canada. You create an account at wes.org, choose the country and purpose, add each qualification, pick the evaluation type, add the recipients and pay online. You then get a WES reference number, and your university sends your official transcripts to WES with that number. WES verifies them in about 2 weeks and evaluates them in 1 to 4 weeks more (WES processing times). The part Nepali students find hardest is getting transcripts from TU or KU to WES, and this guide covers it in detail, so you can finish your WES evaluation from Nepal without an agent.

For prices in dollars and rupees, see WES evaluation cost.

Before you start: which WES credential evaluation do you need?

Ask the place that wants the report. The choices are:

You need it for Evaluation
Master's or PhD in the USA, licensing boards Usually Course-by-Course (it calculates a GPA)
Some undergraduate admissions, some employers Often Document-by-Document
Express Entry and other Canadian immigration ECA (Educational Credential Assessment)

You also choose WES ICAP or WES Basic. ICAP sends copies of your verified documents with the report and stores them for later reports; Basic is the report only (WES: benefits of ICAP). Many universities require ICAP. Follow your university's instructions: a completed evaluation can't be cancelled or refunded.

WES required documents from Nepal

  • Your degree certificate (final or provisional): a clear scan you upload yourself in your WES account.
  • Official transcripts, which your university sends to WES, electronically or in a sealed envelope. You can't upload these yourself.
  • Translations of anything not in English: word-for-word, by a professional translator. WES doesn't accept translations made by applicants (WES: translation requirements).
  • Your passport, so the name and date of birth you enter match it exactly.
  • A card that can pay in US dollars (or Canadian dollars for an ECA).

Your WES account shows the exact list for your qualification under Required Documents once you apply. Follow that list: it is what your evaluation is checked against.

The screenshots are from a real application for the United States; Canadian applications follow the same pattern. They were taken earlier, so the prices in them are older; current fees are on WES's fee page. Personal details are blurred.

Step 1: Choose the country

Go to wes.org and start an application. Choose where you will use the report: U.S., Canada or New Zealand.

Step 1: choose U.S., Canada or New Zealand

Step 2: Enter and verify your email

Use a personal email you check often; WES sends everything there. Enter the six-digit code it sends (check spam) and click Submit code.

Step 6: Add each qualification

Click Add Credential for each degree: country (Nepal), institution, diploma name, your name as it appears on the certificate, field of study, year awarded and years attended. Use names exactly as on your documents. If your dates are in BS, convert them first with the Nepali date converter.

WES doesn't publish a list of the universities it evaluates. Its advice is to start the application anyway, because the form usually flags institutions it doesn't evaluate before you pay (WES Help).

Step 7: Your address, delivery and recipients

WES transcript: how to send it from Nepal

WES wants your university to send transcripts directly. Paper transcripts must arrive in an envelope from the institution, sealed with an official's seal, stamp or signature across the back flap; WES rejects any envelope that has been opened. Only if your university won't send them should you send the sealed envelope yourself (WES Help: sealed envelope).

University How it sends to WES
Kathmandu University (KU) Make an online request for WES verification (certificate/document verification) and give your WES reference number. After reviewing it, KU sends electronic copies of your transcripts and degree certificate directly to WES. KU has a digital partnership with WES and sends no paper copies. A fee applies; questions to olf.exam@ku.edu.np (KU, checked 6 November 2026).
Tribhuvan University (TU) Transcripts come from the Office of the Controller of Examinations, Balkhu (Edusanjal). Ask for them in a sealed, stamped envelope for WES, or ask whether the office can send them to WES directly.
Pokhara, Purbanchal and other universities Ask the examination or records section how it sends documents to WES, and follow WES's sealed-envelope rule.

If you courier a sealed envelope yourself, put it unopened inside a courier envelope (DHL, FedEx and so on), and write your WES reference number and the WES address from your account on it.

Your WES reference number

You get a WES reference number when you complete the online application. WES uses it to match every document to your file, so put it on every envelope and every message you send. WES says it is not responsible for documents that arrive without one (WES Help: reference number). Give it to your university when you ask for transcripts: KU's online WES request asks for it.

WES login and status check

Log in at wes.org with the email and password you created. Your dashboard has a tracker with three stages: Application, Documents and Evaluation, and each turns green when it is complete. The message under it says what WES is waiting for, such as "We are waiting for your documents", with links to the next steps and to View Required Documents. WES also emails you as your evaluation moves on (WES: check your status).

Frequently asked questions

How do I apply for a WES evaluation from Nepal?
Create an account at wes.org, choose the USA or Canada and the purpose, add each degree, choose the evaluation type and package, add recipients and pay. Then upload your degree certificate and ask your university to send your official transcripts to WES with your WES reference number.
What are the WES required documents?
A copy of your degree certificate, which you upload, and official transcripts sent to WES by your university, electronically or in a sealed envelope, with your reference number. Documents not in English need a professional translation. Your account lists the exact documents for your qualification.
How do I send my transcript to WES from Kathmandu University?
Make an online WES verification request at KU's Office of the Controller of Examinations and give your WES reference number. KU sends electronic copies of your transcripts and degree certificate directly to WES. It sends no paper copies.
How do I send my Tribhuvan University transcript to WES?
Get your transcripts from TU's Office of the Controller of Examinations at Balkhu in a sealed, stamped envelope, or ask whether the office can send them to WES directly. If you courier the sealed envelope yourself, never open it, and add your WES reference number.
What is a WES reference number?
The number WES gives you when you complete the online application. It links every document to your file, so it must be on every envelope and message you send, and you give it to your university when you request transcripts.
How do I log in to WES?
Go to wes.org and use the email address and password you created when you opened your WES account. If you forgot the password, reset it from the login page with the same email. Your WES login shows your reference number, required documents and status.
How do I check my WES application status?
Log in at wes.org and look at the tracker: Application, Documents and Evaluation, each turning green when done. The message under it explains what WES is waiting for, and WES emails you as your evaluation moves forward.
How long does WES take?
Typically 2 weeks to verify your documents after they all arrive, then 1 week for an ECA or Document-by-Document evaluation, or 2 weeks for Course-by-Course, longer if complex. Getting transcripts out of Nepal comes on top, so start early.
Can I send my transcripts to WES myself?
WES prefers your university to send them. If your university won't, you can send them yourself, but only in the university's sealed envelope, signed or stamped across the flap and never opened.
What if my university is not on the WES list?
WES doesn't publish a list of institutions it evaluates. Start the application anyway: the form usually flags institutions WES doesn't evaluate before you pay. If evaluators later can't assess a credential, your account is updated to say so.
Can I cancel my WES application?
Yes, for a $56 processing fee. A completed evaluation can't be cancelled and its fees aren't refunded, so confirm which evaluation your university or IRCC wants before you pay.
